Cancer Accommodation
BRICC can assist patients who are travelling long distances to access oncology appointments and treatment. If patients are unable to arrange their own accommodation, the treating team—or the patient themselves—can request a referral to a BRICC Social Worker, who can help organise suitable and affordable options.
Pleasant Apartments are one such option available through Grampians Health for eligible cancer patients and their carers.
Due to high demand, they are often booked well in advance, and access is not automatic. Patients must be referred to the Social Work team, who will assess eligibility and coordinate bookings where possible Pleasant Apartments are accessible, self contained, one bedroom units in close proximity to BRICC. Please note this accommodation is not pet friendly.
The Victoria Patient Transport Assistance Scheme (VPTAS) provides financial assistance to eligible Victorians who need to travel long distances for specialist medical treatment. BRICC staff can assist patients with VPTAS subsidies for travel and accommodation costs.
