What does my employment cover me for?
All appointments for Doctors in Training at Grampians Health are covered by the Doctors in Training (Victorian Public Health Sector) (AMA Victoria/ ASMOF) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2022 – 2026. An enterprise agreement will include salary and leave entitlements.
Am I eligible to apply for BPT training at Grampians Health?
To be eligible you must:
- complete a medical degree accredited by the Australian Medical Council
- have a general medical registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- have satisfactorily completed at least an intern year (post-graduate year one)
How are interviews arranged?
If you are shortlisted, you will be sent an email inviting you to attend an interview. Successful candidates will discuss the application and receive approval from Director of Physician Education.
How do you allocate rotations?
All successful candidates are required to complete a preference form where each rotation is numbered in order of preference. We do our best to allocate rotations fairly across BPT1 to BPT3. However, not everyone will receive their first preferences. The Medical Workforce unit will work with you if there is any possibility for swapping rotations.
Can I complete all three years of BPT at Grampians Health?
No. You can complete up to 2 years of BPT at Grampians Health as a Level 2 teaching hospital.
You will be required to complete a minimum of 12 months at a Level 3 teaching hospital after your training at Grampians Health.
Can I complete mandatory 12 months core training in medical specialties at Grampians Health?
Yes. We strive to ensure our BPTs fulfil this requirement during 2 years of the training with Grampians Health.
How can I guarantee that I can get a certain rotation?
There is no way to guarantee that you will be allocated a specific rotation. It simply depends on how many people rank that rotation as their first preference and how many positions we have available each year.
How many positions are available?
We currently recruit approximately 35 trainees across BPT 1 to 3+. This number is subject to change as we expand our services.
