For immunisation providers
Extra MMR vaccine stock is now available in Victoria for this state-funded campaign.
- Orders are made through the routine process via OneLink - you can reference "Enhance Measles Vaccination Response" in the notes section.
- The eligible population is people age 20 -59 years (can include all people born during or after 1966).
- Infants aged 6- 11months are also eligible for state-funded vaccine dose prior to overseas travel.
- For people without documented evidence of immunity, two doses of MMR should be administered, at least 4 weeks apart. Ensure you review the Australian Immunisation Handbook for guidance about MMR vaccination and contraindications.
- Serological testing is not required before vaccination. Additional doses are safe. People with existing evidence of serological immunity, or documentation of 2 doses of measles-containing vaccine, do not need further vaccination.
- Ensure all vaccine encounters are uploaded onto the Australia Immunisation Record (AIR).
