Diagnostic breast imaging uses low-dose x-rays or ultrasound, sometimes both, to image the breast.
Who we care for
We provide services for patients needing breast imaging who have:
- past history of breast cancer
- family history of breast cancer
- significant symptoms such as a new lump/nipple discharge or inversion
- dense breasts requiring 3D mammography
Routine breastscreening for asymptomatic women over 40 years is available through Grampians Breastscreen.
What you can expect
We offer:
- 2D and 3D(tomosynthesis) mammography (Ballarat and Horsham)
- Breast ultrasound (Ballarat and Horsham)
- Contrast Enhanced Mammography (Ballarat only)
- Stereotactic biopsy (Ballarat only)
- Breast biopsy (Ballarat only)
Referrals and access
- A referral is required from a medical provider. Please bring this with you to your appointment.
- We accept referrals and requests from all imaging providers.
- Appointments are essential.
- Non-urgent results are sent to your referring doctor within 2 working days. Results cannot be given directly to you.
