Exercise Physiology
Exercise Physiologists specialise in clinical exercise prescription and developing exercise programs for people with a broad range of health issues including chronic health conditions, physical injuries, degenerative diseases and more.
The Exercise Physiology Department offers a range of services designed to:
- Improve physical fitness
- Maximise physical abilities
- Optimise functional independence
- Improve general health and well being
Exercise Physiologists assess, design, deliver, monitor and evaluate gym, pool, and home-based exercise programs for people with sub acute and chronic conditions, people who are recovering from surgery or accident/injury in both individual and group settings as appropriate.
Who we care for
We care for people preparing for surgeries, during treatments such as chemotherapy and those with difficulties related to chronic conditions, physical injuries, degenerative diseases and more. This includes:
- Cardiovascular disease
- Pulmonary disease
- Diabetes
- Weight management
- Neurological disease
- Cancer
- Musculoskeletal disease
- Depression and other mental health conditions
- Loss of strength, endurance or function
- Balance
What you can expect
We provide you with an exercise-based program tailored to your needs. Programs can be:
- gym-based
- pool-based
- home-based
- a combination of the above
We can also help you start a program in the community.
Referrals and access
- A referral from a GP or other health professional is required.
