Our haematology team manages both benign and malignant haematological conditions.
Who we care for
We care for people with blood disorders, both in hospital and through specialist outpatient clinics.
What you can expect
We provide care in the following areas:
- blood cancers (including acute and chronic leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma, myelodysplasia)
- myeloproliferative disorders (polycythaemia, thrombocytosis, myelofibrosis)
- low blood counts (anaemia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia)
- bleeding and clotting disorders
- iron disorders (iron deficiency, iron overload)
- bone marrow biopsy
You will be placed in the clinic that best caters for your condition, based on your GP referral.
Receiving treatment
Chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood transfusion and central venous catheter care are delivered through the day oncology unit in Ballarat, Horsham, and Stawell campuses and through Hospital Without Walls (Home Based Cancer Care) in appropriate cases.
Bone marrow biopsy service
Bone marrow biopsy is done in day oncology unit on Tuesday and Thursday in Ballarat.
Clinic details
- Ballarat - Weekly on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday
- Horsham - Fortnightly on Thursday
- Stawell - Fortnightly on Thursday
