Our neurology team manages general and specialised conditions related to the brain and nervous system.  

Who we care for

We care for adults with neurological conditions. This may be in hospital or as an outpatients through our specialist clinics.  

What you can expect

We provide expert assessment, diagnosis and management in the following areas: 

  • stroke and Transient Ischaemic Attacks (TIA) 
  • epilepsy and seizures 
  • Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders 
  • general neurology 
  • Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and other neuro-immune neurological conditions 
  • neuropathies and related conditions 
  • investigation of neurological symptoms such as weakness, numbness or visual changes 
  • neurophysiology testing (e.g. electroencephalogram (EEG), nerve conduction / electromyography (EMG)) 

Ballarat: We provide specialist neurology care and operate a 24-hour acute stroke service with the support of the Victorian Stroke Telemedicine (VST) service after hours.  

Horsham: The general medicine team provides 24-hour acute stroke care, supported by the Victorian Stroke Telemedicine (VST) service. 

We currently run outpatient clinics in Ballarat and Horsham. These are held weekly.  

Our clinics include: 

  • Stroke and TIA  
  • General Neurology  
  • First Seizure / Epilepsy  
  • Multiple Sclerosis  
  • Neurophysiology Testing (nerve conduction studies / EMG) 
  • Spasticity and Botox 

You will be placed in the clinic that best caters to your condition, based on your GP referral.  

Referrals and access

In hospital 

  • Admission is via the Emergency Department or one of our specialist clinics.  

Outpatient clinics 

  • A GP referral is required to access our outpatient clinics 
  • Referrals should be submitted to: 
    • Central Intake (Ballarat) 
    • Alan Wolff Medical Centre (Horsham) 
  • We do not see patients with back pain without neurological signs or symptoms.
