Pacemaker checks

A pacemaker check is performed on patients with implanted cardiac devices to check the function, settings, or any abnormal heart rhythms that may have been recorded. It involves the use of a computer that communicates with the device wirelessly.

What you can expect

A pacemaker check is a non-invasive and painless test that requires no preparation. A referral from a medical provider is required, and it must state the brand of the device. 

Referrals and access

  • A referral from a GP or other medical provider is required, stating the brand of the device. 
  • Appointments are essential. 
  • Make a booking by calling 03 5320 4201. You can also fax your referral to 03 5320 4713 or email to diagnostic@gh.org.au. If using fax or email, you will be contacted with your appointment details. 
  • Patient name, date of birth, phone number, and address must be included on the referral. 

This service is covered by Medicare, and is bulk billed with no additional fees charged.
