Ultrasound
An ultrasound, or sonogram, uses high-frequency sound waves to create an image of your internal body structures.
It is used to detect, diagnose, and monitor a variety of conditions. It is safe for use during pregnancy.
Who we care for
We perform ultrasound scans for people who need investigation of:
- abdominal and pelvic organs
- musculoskeletal and vascular systems
- foetal development during pregnancy
What you can expect
During an ultrasound the sonographer uses a small ultrasound probe, which emits high frequency sound waves, to create an internal image of a specific area of the body. This image is transmitted to a monitor.
Our staff will inform you if you need to do anything before your scan. Preparation for scans could require fasting or attending your appointment with a full bladder.
