Lymphoedema is a condition that results in swelling, typically in the arms and legs, but can affect any part of the body. It occurs due to blockage of, or damage to, the lymphatic system.
Who we care for
Our lymphoedema outpatient clinic provides specialised care for individuals experiencing symptoms of lymphoedema, as well as those at risk of developing the condition.
What you can expect
We provide assessment, education and management of lymphoedema to people across the Grampians region. Our service focuses on:
- self-management
- prescribing compression garments
- exercises to support self-management
We have a specialist monthly clinic for assessing chronic oedema in Ballarat. This is run by a physician and lymphoedema therapist.
Referrals and access
- A referral from a GP or medical practitioner is required to access this service. Referrals will be triaged and prioritised based on clinical need. Clients will be contacted when an appointment becomes available.
