The term "consumer" refers to any member of the Grampians regional community. It includes current, past, or future:
- patients
- residents
- participants
- clients
- carers/family members
- young people
Consumer Partners provide input into our services and facilities. They share their different perspectives from their life experiences and community stories. Grampians Health is committed to consumer participation in planning, design, delivery, and evaluation of the services we provide as we aim to deliver safe, effective, and connected person-centred care.
Importance of Consumer Partnership
The Grampians Health Strategic Plan highlights our commitment to partnering with consumers. We seek to understand what matters to our consumers and work with them to co-design our services. We also seek to engage with our community to influence health outcomes and improve health literacy.
Consumer participation in decision-making improves health outcomes. This leads to more accessible, innovative, and effective healthcare. Active involvement of consumers at all levels of health strategy and program development, implementation, and evaluation is integral to their success.
Consumer Partnership Framework
Our Consumer Partnership Framework is a standardised guide which supports consumer engagement across the organisation.
The Framework has been developed with and for consumers of the Grampians region. It recognises the importance of understanding the community's perspective on healthcare needs, preferences, experiences, and priorities:
- Empowering consumers: We acknowledge the importance of empowering consumers to make informed decisions about their health and healthcare. We offer opportunities for the consumer voice to be heard at all levels of the organisation.
- Commitment to engagement: The Framework demonstrates our commitment to engaging with consumers to achieve improved healthcare experiences and outcomes for our community.
