Our Specialist Outpatients team in Ballarat provides a range of specialist outpatient services, as well as allied health, pre-admission, and post-discharge services.
Appointment information
On-site appointments
On-site appointments are held at one of our Ballarat campus locations. Please allow enough time for your visit, as there may be long waits.
Please bring your Medicare, Pension, or DVA cards to your appointment.
Telehealth appointments (video conference)
A telehealth appointment is a video call with your specialist. This is conducted off-site. You can use a desktop, laptop, Android tablet, or smartphone.

If you arrive at one of our sites for a telehealth appointment, you will be asked to leave. Telehealth appointments are only conducted by phone or video call.
Telephone appointments
Telephone appointments are phone calls with your specialist, conducted off-site. The call will come from a "No Caller ID" number.
If you arrive at one of our sites for a telephone appointment, you will be asked to leave. Telephone appointments are only conducted by phone.
You will be contacted when an appointment becomes available. There is no need to call the hospital to schedule it.
Once an appointment is booked, you'll be notified by letter, SMS, or phone call. If you prefer a specific method, please let us know by calling 03 5320 4221.
Wait times for Specialist Outpatient services vary by specialty. Due to high demand in the Grampians region, there can be long waits. When an appointment is available, we'll contact you.
After your referral is accepted, you may receive an SMS or a letter. This will give you an estimated timeframe. It is important to note that these are just estimates, and actual wait times are likely to be longer.

If you can no longer attend your appointment, please let us know 24 hours in advance by calling 03 5320 4221. Alternatively you can visit the ‘Change or cancel my appointment’ page to complete the online form.
Failure to attend two appointments in a row, without letting us know, may result in your referral being closed. In this case, your care will be returned to your GP.

Ballarat Base Hospital Campus Carpark can be accessed on Mair Street, and metered street parking is available on Sturt Street.
